Vanessa Larroca

Vanessa grew up in both the Bay Area and Albuquerque, NM.  After studying biology in college, she went on to do cancer research but felt personally disconnected and isolated.  She decided to make a career shift and pursue massage therapy by attending the National Holistic Institute in SJ where she received an advanced degree in Neuromuscular Therapy with a specialty in Sports Massage.  In 2019 she landed her dream job at SMI where she has been able to focus on utilizing massage for recovery, injury prevention, facilitating proprioception and influencing the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Vanessa is a very active individual who is passionate about dance, yoga, meditation, tennis, running, indoor skydiving, MMA, and conscious movement.  Since 2016 she has been training to compete in US Parachuting Association competitions in Freestyle artistic skydiving.  Unfortunately, she has struggled with a series of Skydiving related injuries, but these have turned out to be a blessing in disguise by allowing her to delve deeper into understanding the human body.

You could say manual therapy and a passion for helping people runs in the family as Vanessa’s mom is a massage therapist as well!  It’s something she is deeply connected to and her enthusiasm for it is infectious. She is a very energetic and grounded individual and one of her greatest strengths is to make others feel comfortable and  connected, and man will she make you laugh!
